The Paper Snowman

When I wake up and I look out of the window,
Nothing there, but my paper snowman,
And he smiles,
And raises his broom and waves and says:
“Don’t worry about a thing,
It will be all right”

I walk the streets and there’s nothing but lonely people,
With grey faces under the blue sky,
And the clouds,
They are laughing at their sadness,
That no one knows,
And I just think about the paper snowman in my garden.

His coal eyes that see who I am,
His carrot nose,
His kind mouth that tells of truth and happiness,
And what the world is made of.

So I sit down with my paper snowman,
And I know I should study,
But I’d rather write this song,
And I know that my paper snowman sings along

He tells me of places far away,
Different, dancy,
Where people are colorful and where streets are shiny,
Where words mean more than empty letters,
And where paper snowmen can fly…so high.

And he takes my hand and takes me to dance,
We spin around, we sing and laugh,
And we forget,
About the lonely people with the grey faces,
Under the same blue sky,
With the same white clouds laughing out loud.
